Fire Station #4

This station presented the designer with a very limited site located within an urban environment. The site was impacted by the immediate proximity of an Interstate exit ramp, multi-family housing, senior housing and numerous advertising billboards. Again, the specifics of the building functionality had to be integrated within the existing traffic and community constraints which had a direct impact upon the orientation of the facility within its urban context. This station has a community room, apparatus bay, administrative area, sleeping accommodations for men and women, kitchen and a multi-purpose/dining area. The fire station is the proud recipient of the 2002 Atlanta Urban Design Award of Excellence.
